Me As A Consumer Of The Media

As most of us know, the Internet is now a crucial part of everyday life. It has revolutionized the way we consume news, information and entertainment; rendering traditional news outlets (i.e. Fox News, BBC, etc.) all but irrelevant among millennials. It is the largest information source in the world with sites such as Wikipedia and online newspapers (superseding traditional newspapers). However, it also (if unintentionally) has exacerbated the sensationalist tendencies of the media and created the modern (and illiberal) Progressive movement.

My relationship with the internet is main through either using platforms such as YouTube to watch shows such as HBO's Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, a Sunday night satirical comedy show where British-American Comedian John Oliver takes an in-depth dive into topical subjects in America's national press and current affairs, and attempts to joke about it.

An example is the video embed below; where he tackles general misconceptions about Torture at sites such as Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib (with surprise "cameos" from both Kiefer Sutherland and Dame Helen Mirren).

I also use the internet to listen to music (via apps such as "Spotify") and watch "The Young Turks" - the largest online news network as of this moment of posting. The Young Turks was created in 2002 by Turkish-American Cenk Kadir Uygur.

I often access the internet through the use of any device which can connect to the internet that is available to me (although I usually use my Dell laptop or Ipad).

Although "traditionally" the internet was accessed through a desktop computer, most people use it through mobile devices such as Tablets, Smart phones, Laptops or any other device with a internet connection.

The reason me and many others use the internet is that I can communicate ideas and opinions with people across the world.
